Catching Up with Me!

It's been a crazy couple of weeks.  Dad got very ill on September 14 and stayed for one week in the hospital.  He was diagnosed with C Diff and was put in isolation in the hospital because this illness is very contagious.  To visit him, we had to wear a mask, gloves and gown and washing up with soap and water.  We were told that even using hand sanitizers would not kill off the bacteria.  Thank goodness our caregiver was able to stay with him at nights after the hospital stopped having a sitter stay with him.  It gave me peace of mind to know that he was in good hands.  Anyway, we brought him home on September 21 and because he was still on antibiotic treatment, was not allowed to go to daycare.  He was really weak and also retaining lots of fluids, so it was good that he was able to stay home.  He practically slept day and night.  He is so much better today, although the swelling is still present.  I have him on medication to drain the fluid, and it seems to be working.  He's saying that he doesn't want to go back to daycare - oh boy!  We will have to work something out!
On another note, I did have my ornament class and the ladies had so much fun making the two ornaments.  Thanks ladies for coming to the class and thanks Wini for your help and support.  It was a very relaxing day for me too!  The holiday combo class is in the works and I'm excited to finish up so I can share them with you.  I'll be blogging the details when I'm done.
Thanks to all of you who still read my posts.  I still enjoy visiting blogs when I can.  I think alot of people have moved away from the blogs and are mostly on the social networks...so I thank you again for your support.
My next post will be a fun Halloween project!  Stay tuned!

Candy Bar Holders

I'm so struggling to get back into the crafting mode!  We had an awards ceremony at work last Friday and I had a handful of friends who received awards for years of service.  Our own division honored four nominees too!  Yay!  I made 8 of these candy bar holders.  It was the easiest thing I could think of to make.  I bought those huge candy bars and wrapped them up in cardstock and then decorated them so simply. I know it's not my best work, but it turned out not too bad.
I will be posting a tutorial on how to make these just in case someone is interested.  Of course, this project is not a new thing and I'm sure alot of you have made it before.  Even as easy as this was to make, it was still a struggle for me to get it done in a timely manner.  Mostly because I started so late in the evening.  Yes, I made them on Thursday night - the night before I needed them.  Typical me!  Anyway, here is how they turned out.
Here's a photo of Tik and Alice.  My two co-workers.   Alice made that beautiful lei for Tik - her favorite color Pink!
I've been in the mood lately to take photos of the Queen.  She's constantly by my side.  Not quite joined at my hip, but sort of.  She displays goofy behavior when I leave for work - combing the house crying and carrying her Nemo fish toy around in her mouth.  At least that is what I'm told by my Dad's caregiver, Tobie.  Silly cat!  Here's a couple more photos of Mochiko.
She's getting comfy on my paper cutter.  I guess that's why I own more than one!
Hey, thanks for stopping by today.  I'm really trying to get back into the swing of things and post more.  I think there's still an audience out there on blogs...am I right?  Oh well, even though no one reads my posts, at least I have a journal of my crazy life!  Tutorial to follow soon!

Matchbook card and photos of Mochiko

Well, seems like I'm on a roll here.  Finally got some projects going slowly, mostly out of desperate need of a card - lol!  I made this matchbook card for Nolan's driving instructor.  She did a great job in teaching Nolan the rules of the road.  The stamps that I used came from this set called Moving Forward.  It happens to be this year's stamp set to help the Ronald McDonald House.  Every year, I buy this set to help out the RMH because proceeds from this set gets donated to them.  It's always a cute set!
I didn't know what kind of card I was making when I started off.  When you don't craft for a while, you kind of lose the creativity, at least for me, that's how it is.  I wanted to include a SB giftcard in the card.  Here is what the inside looked like.  I made Nolan write something to her.
Here's a close up of the front.  I love these frogs!
The other night, we were testing out all of my zoom lens.  Amazingly, the lens all fit and Nolan was having some fun zooming in on you know who...love what he captured.  Miss Queen at her best, haha!

Do you think she was sticking tongue at him?  Actually, this frame caught her ås she just finished a yawn.  Funny!
Thanks for sharing a part of your day with me by looking at my post.  There's a new promotion going on at SU and I'm sure by now you've already seen it, but I'll still post it, maybe tomorrow?  We'll see if I have the time to post it.

AaRFf BArk aRRooF! - Dog Talk for Happy Birthday!

I'm slowly getting back into some kind of groove, I think!  Most of the cards that I'm "trying to make" are made because I need a card for a birthday or special occasion.  It's taking me longer to get the light bulb going these days and I hate it!  I wish my groove would get on track again because it's so frustrating when I have to struggle so much to make a simple card.
My co-worker, Alice celebrated a birthday last week and of course, I had to struggle to make this simple card.  It's from a new stamp set called "Animal Talk" found on page 35 in the new idea book & catalog.  It was perfect because Alice loves dogs.  I used the new Chevron embossing folder for the background.
Here is the inside of the card.  The sentiment is also from the same stamp set.  It's a cute set because the images have sentiments that go with them.  The flower was from a stamp set called Button Buddies.
Last weekend, we went to Costco and it was such a beautiful day!  Good thing my son was driving so I could take a few photos.
I caught these two right before Makapuu Beach.  I love that I was able to catch the hang glider in these shots.
Rabbit Island in the background of this shot.  The weather was really beautiful but it was sooooo hot!
Thanks for visiting me today!  I have another project to share as soon as I can draft the post.  Hope it won't be too long of a wait!

Ornament Class this month!

Wow, I can't believe it's been almost one month since I posted an inquiry about the ornament class.  Time sure slips away from me.  Life has been so hectic for me leaving me with little or no energy at all at the end of the day.  Over the past few weeks, I've had to fill in for a few days to watch Dad overnight because my caregiver was sick.   Staying up all night is not a feeling that I want to remember and boy, did it hit me like a ton of bricks especially trying to function the day after!  The older I get, I totally cannot handle pulling all nighters!
You don't know how badly I wanted to prepare this post, but just didn't have the energy to do it.  I apologize for the huge delay!  Thank goodness for the 3-day weekend and my caregivers coming back to work -yay!!  Okay...on with the details for the class!
The class to make these two ornaments will be on Sunday, September 23rd starting at 10:00 a.m. at my home.  There are two kit options offered:
Option 1:  Pay the $20 class fee to receive all materials to make these two ornaments (includes all of the paper to stamp the images - you will need 24 pieces for each ornament!, large and small snowflake, doilies, 6 large pearls, button, linen thread for ornament hanger, ink and use of the dies)
Option 2:  Buy the Ornament Keepsakes Bundle which includes the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and Holiday Ornaments Framelit Dies - $49.95 wood mount, $42.95 clear mount and get the class kit for FREE! (price quoted does not include shipping and tax).
The great thing about option 2 is that after the class, you will want to make more ornaments and you will already have the stamp set and framelit dies in your hand - so no waiting for your order to come in before you can make more beautiful ornaments!  The other bonus, of course, is that you get the class kit for FREE, a $20 value.
To attend this class, please RSVP by email no later than September 10 and specify whether you are signing up for Option 1 or 2.  After you RSVP, please send your payment to me ASAP especially if you are signing up for Option 2 as I will need to place the order with Stampin' Up! for the bundles.  I will not be able to advance monies for these bundles.  The final price will be quoted via email once you RSVP for the class.  All fees will need to be received by me no later than Monday, September 17.  I will not hold a kit for you if I do not receive your payment.  These strict rules are necessary in order to avoid no-shows for the class.  I appreciate all of you who RSVP on time and pay the fee so I know that you are serious about attending.  Preparing for a class is ALOT of work, so if we all do our part, everyone will be happy, especially ME because my time is just so limited!  Thank you so much for your understanding!
You will need to bring your tool kit (supplies that you use to craft with).  For this class, please include some type of liquid glue - Elmer's craft glue, Tombow multi liquid glue are just some examples of these types of glue.  This glue will be use for you to glue the pieces together to form a "petal".  I will provide the hot glue to assemble the ornament and we will be using the new silicone craft sheet.  Love this new item!
I hope that you will join me for this fun class!  My downline girls made this ornament back in July and loved the finished product!  Please send me a email if you have any questions before signing up.  Looking forward to another fun craft day with you!
CLASS BONUS!  All attendees will make this fun Halloween treat bag with treat!  Made with the new Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit.  I love Halloween!
Thanks for stopping by today!  Looking forward to seeing you at the class!
